LRC1443 – Full Vehicle Dynamat Xtreme Sound Deadening Kit – Land Rover Defender 90 County Station Wagon Puma – 2007–2016

The LRC1443 full-vehicle Dynamat Xtreme kit has been put together by LR Parts specifically for Land Rover Defender 90 County Station Wagon Puma/TDCi models from 2007–2016.

Rather than buying individual pre-cut Dynamat sections separately and working out which products are required, we have combined the appropriate sections into one complete package covering the major noise and vibration areas of the vehicle.

A heavy-duty Dynamat installation roller is also included.

Vehicle Fitment

Suitable for:

  • Land Rover Defender 90 County Station Wagon

  • 2.4 TDCi Puma – 2007–2011

  • 2.2 TDCi Puma – 2012–2016

Coverage: Bonnet, front footwells, seat box, rear tub behind the seats, rear tub floor and rear wheel arches

What Does Dynamat Xtreme Do?

Dynamat Xtreme is a high-performance butyl-based vibration damping material designed to control resonance in vehicle body panels.

The Defender contains large areas of relatively thin aluminium and steel bodywork which can vibrate in response to the engine, drivetrain, tyres and road surface.

Dynamat Xtreme bonds directly to these panels and helps control this movement, reducing the amount of vibration and resonance transmitted into the cabin.

Benefits can include:

  • Reduced panel vibration and resonance

  • Reduced road and drivetrain noise transmitted through body panels

  • Fewer buzzes and rattles

  • A more solid feel from doors and body panels

  • Improved audio clarity

  • Reduced vibration around speakers

Why Use Dynamat in a Defender 90 County Station Wagon?

Although the Puma Defender is more refined than earlier models, the 90 County Station Wagon still has a large amount of lightly insulated bodywork surrounding both the passenger compartment and rear loadspace.

Areas such as the:

  • bonnet

  • front footwells

  • seat box

  • rear tub behind the seats

  • rear loadspace floor

  • rear wheel arches

can all contribute to the characteristic road, drivetrain and body-panel noise inside the vehicle.

LRC1443 combines the relevant pre-cut Dynamat sections for these areas into one complete package.

What's Included?

This LR Parts kit contains:

  • DA8092 × 1 – Bonnet sound deadening

  • DA8083 × 1 – Footwell sound deadening

  • DA8084 × 1 – Seat-box sound deadening

  • DA8085 × 1 – Rear tub behind seats

  • DA8097 × 1 – Rear tub floor sound deadening

  • DA8096 × 1 – Rear wheel-arch sound deadening

  • DA8098 × 1 – Heavy-duty Dynamat installation roller

Why Buy the Complete LR Parts Kit?

Dynamat produces individual pre-cut sound-deadening sections for different areas of the Defender.

We have combined the appropriate sections for the Defender 90 County Station Wagon Puma into one LR Parts kit, allowing the major vehicle areas to be ordered under a single part number.

This means:

  • No guessing how much Dynamat is required

  • No working out which individual kits need to be combined

  • Pre-cut pieces designed around specific areas of the Defender

  • Coverage of both the passenger compartment and rear loadspace

  • Heavy-duty installation roller included

  • One complete package for a comprehensive sound-deadening project

Pre-Cut for Easier Installation

The individual Dynamat sections are pre-cut around the areas of the Defender they are intended to cover.

This reduces the amount of measuring and cutting required compared with treating the entire vehicle using bulk sheets.

Some trimming or adjustment may still be necessary because Defenders can vary and many vehicles have been modified during their lifetime.

How Does Dynamat Xtreme Work?

Dynamat Xtreme consists of a self-adhesive butyl damping layer with an aluminium constraining layer.

Once firmly bonded to a body panel, it helps control the movement of that panel and reduces its tendency to vibrate and resonate.

Correct adhesion is important, which is why this kit includes a heavy-duty Dynamat roller to help work the material firmly onto the vehicle bodywork.

Installation

For the best results, Dynamat should be fitted directly to a clean, dry and sound vehicle surface.

Before installation:

  • Remove the relevant interior trim

  • Clean the underlying panels thoroughly

  • Remove loose dirt, grease and contamination

  • Deal with any corrosion before covering the panel

  • Keep drainage holes, wiring and service access points clear

  • Use the supplied roller to ensure the Dynamat is firmly bonded to the bodywork

Can the Kit Be Installed in Stages?

Yes.

There is no requirement to complete the whole Defender in one session.

You could treat the front cabin first and complete the rear tub, loadspace floor and wheel arches later.

This makes LRC1443 particularly suitable for a Defender restoration, interior retrim or audio upgrade where sections of the vehicle may already be stripped.

Improved Audio Performance

Reducing panel resonance can also improve the performance of an upgraded audio system.

By controlling unwanted vibration around speakers and large body panels, Dynamat can help provide:

  • Cleaner bass

  • Reduced buzzes and rattles

  • Better sound definition

  • Less unwanted panel vibration at higher volume

This can be especially useful in a 90 County Station Wagon, where speakers and passengers share the cabin with a relatively large rear body and loadspace area.

Will Dynamat Completely Soundproof My Defender?

No.

A Defender has many different sources of cabin noise including the engine, gearbox, drivetrain, tyres, wind noise, door seals and ventilation openings.

Dynamat Xtreme is primarily designed to reduce vibration and resonance through the vehicle's body panels.

Treating the major areas can make a worthwhile improvement to refinement, but it will not turn a Defender into a silent modern passenger car.
