LRC1437 – Full Vehicle Dynamat Xtreme Sound Deadening Kit – Land Rover 90 / Defender 90 – 1983–1998
The LRC1437 full-vehicle Dynamat Xtreme kit has been put together by LR Parts specifically for Land Rover 90 and Defender 90 models from 1983–1998.
Rather than buying the individual pre-cut Dynamat sections separately and working out which products are required, we have combined the appropriate sections into one complete package covering the major noise and vibration areas of the vehicle.
A heavy-duty Dynamat installation roller is also included.
Vehicle Fitment
Suitable for:
-
Land Rover 90
-
Land Rover Defender 90
-
1983–1998
Coverage: Bonnet, front footwells, seat box, rear tub floor and rear wheel arches
What Does Dynamat Xtreme Do?
Dynamat Xtreme is a high-performance butyl-based vibration damping material designed to control resonance in vehicle body panels.
Traditional Land Rovers contain large areas of relatively thin aluminium and steel bodywork which can vibrate in response to the engine, gearbox, drivetrain, tyres and road surface.
Dynamat Xtreme bonds directly to these panels and helps control this movement, reducing the amount of vibration and resonance transmitted into the cabin.
Benefits can include:
-
Reduced panel vibration and resonance
-
Reduced road and drivetrain noise transmitted through body panels
-
Fewer buzzes and rattles
-
A more solid feel from the vehicle's panels
-
Improved audio clarity
-
Reduced vibration around speakers
Why Use Dynamat in an Early Land Rover 90?
The early Land Rover 90 and Defender 90 are particularly mechanical vehicles, with relatively little factory sound insulation separating the occupants from the engine, gearbox, drivetrain and road surface.
Areas such as the:
-
bonnet
-
front footwells
-
seat box
-
rear tub floor
-
rear wheel arches
can all contribute to the characteristic noise and vibration inside the vehicle.
LRC1437 combines the relevant pre-cut Dynamat sections for these areas into one complete package.
What's Included?
This LR Parts kit contains:
-
DA8091 × 1 – Bonnet sound deadening
-
DA8094 × 1 – Footwell sound deadening
-
DA8095 × 1 – Seat-box sound deadening
-
DA8086 × 1 – Rear tub floor sound deadening
-
DA8087 × 1 – Rear wheel-arch sound deadening
-
DA8098 × 1 – Heavy-duty Dynamat installation roller
Why Buy the Complete LR Parts Kit?
Dynamat produces individual pre-cut sound-deadening sections for different areas of the Land Rover.
We have combined the appropriate sections for the 1983–1998 Land Rover 90 / Defender 90 into one LR Parts kit, allowing the major areas of the vehicle to be ordered under a single part number.
This means:
-
No guessing how much Dynamat is required
-
No working out which individual pre-cut kits need to be combined
-
Pre-cut pieces designed around specific areas of the vehicle
-
Coverage of the main cabin and rear loadspace noise areas
-
Heavy-duty installation roller included
-
One convenient package for a comprehensive sound-deadening project
Pre-Cut for Easier Installation
The individual Dynamat sections are pre-cut around the areas of the Land Rover they are intended to cover.
This reduces the amount of measuring and cutting required compared with treating the entire vehicle from bulk sheets.
Some trimming or adjustment may still be necessary because older Land Rovers can vary considerably and many have been modified during their lifetime.
How Does Dynamat Xtreme Work?
Dynamat Xtreme consists of a self-adhesive butyl damping layer with an aluminium constraining layer.
Once firmly bonded to a body panel, it helps reduce the panel's tendency to vibrate and resonate.
Correct adhesion is important, which is why this kit includes a heavy-duty Dynamat roller to help work the material firmly onto the vehicle bodywork.
Installation
For the best results, Dynamat should be fitted directly to a clean, dry and sound vehicle surface.
Before installation:
-
Remove the relevant interior trim
-
Clean the underlying panels thoroughly
-
Remove loose dirt, grease and contamination
-
Deal with any corrosion before covering the panel
-
Keep drainage holes, wiring and service access points clear
-
Use the supplied roller to ensure the Dynamat is firmly bonded to the panel
Can the Kit Be Installed in Stages?
Yes.
There is no requirement to complete the whole vehicle in one session.
You could complete the front cabin first and tackle the rear tub floor and wheel arches later.
This makes LRC1437 particularly suitable for a restoration, rebuild or rolling improvement project where different areas of the vehicle are stripped at different stages.
Improved Audio Performance
Reducing body-panel resonance can also improve the performance of an upgraded sound system.
By controlling unwanted vibration around speakers and larger body panels, Dynamat can help provide:
-
Cleaner bass
-
Reduced buzzes and rattles
-
Better sound definition
-
Less unwanted panel vibration at higher volume
Will Dynamat Completely Soundproof My Land Rover?
No.
A traditional Land Rover has many different sources of cabin noise including the engine, gearbox, drivetrain, tyres, wind noise, door seals and ventilation openings.
Dynamat Xtreme is primarily designed to reduce vibration and resonance through the vehicle's body panels.
Treating the major areas can make a worthwhile improvement to refinement, but it will not turn an early Land Rover into a silent modern passenger car.
