LR Parts Full-Vehicle Dynamat Xtreme Sound Deadening Kit

This LR Parts full-vehicle Dynamat Xtreme kit brings together the individual pre-cut Dynamat sections required to treat the major noise and vibration areas of your Land Rover in one complete package.

Rather than buying individual sheets and working out how much material is required, we have combined the relevant vehicle-specific pre-cut Dynamat kits to provide comprehensive coverage throughout the vehicle.

The kit also includes a heavy-duty Dynamat installation roller, giving you the main components required to carry out a complete installation.

Vehicle Fitment

Fits: Defender 110 County Station Wagon
Wheelbase/body: 110
Engine/years: Fits 2007-2016
Coverage: Full vehicle

What Does Dynamat Xtreme Do?

Dynamat Xtreme is a high-performance butyl-based constrained-layer vibration damping material.

Land Rover bodies contain large areas of relatively thin aluminium and steel panelwork. As the vehicle is driven, these panels can vibrate and resonate in response to the engine, drivetrain, tyres, road surface and audio system.

Dynamat Xtreme bonds directly to the panel and helps control this vibration, reducing the tendency of the panel itself to resonate and transmit unwanted noise into the cabin.

The result can be:

  • Reduced panel vibration and resonance

  • Less road and drivetrain noise entering the cabin through vibrating panels

  • Reduced buzzes and rattles

  • A more solid feel from doors and body panels

  • Improved clarity from the vehicle's audio system

  • Reduced vibration around speakers, helping improve bass response

Dynamat describes Xtreme as a constrained-layer damping material designed specifically to control structural vibration and panel resonance.

Why Use Dynamat in a Land Rover?

Traditional Land Rovers were never designed around the same levels of NVH – noise, vibration and harshness – as a modern passenger car.

Large areas of relatively lightly insulated:

  • floor

  • transmission area

  • seat box

  • rear tub

  • wheel arches

  • doors

  • roof

  • bonnet

can all contribute to the characteristic noise and vibration inside the vehicle.

Treating these areas with Dynamat Xtreme helps stop the panels themselves acting as resonating surfaces.

For a Land Rover that is used for longer journeys, touring or simply as a more comfortable everyday vehicle, a comprehensive Dynamat installation can make the cabin feel considerably more refined.

A Complete LR Parts Kit – Not Just a Box of Dynamat Sheets

This is a kit we have put together ourselves at LR Parts.

Dynamat produces a range of excellent pre-cut Land Rover sound-deadening sections, but treating an entire vehicle normally means identifying and purchasing several individual kits.

We have done that work for you.

Each of our full-vehicle kits combines the appropriate pre-cut sections for the particular Land Rover model into one complete package, together with a heavy-duty installation roller.

This means:

  • No guessing how many sheets you need

  • No measuring out a complete vehicle from bulk packs

  • Pre-cut sections shaped for the areas they are designed to cover

  • All the major vehicle areas can be treated as one project

  • One part number to order the complete package

Pre-Cut for Easier Installation

One of the major advantages of these kits is that the Dynamat is supplied in pre-cut sections designed around specific areas of the Land Rover.

Depending on the vehicle, these can include sections for areas such as:

  • Bonnet

  • Front footwells

  • Transmission area

  • Seat box

  • Under-seat areas

  • Rear tub

  • Loadspace floor

  • Rear wheel arches

The exact contents and coverage for this particular kit are listed below.

Some trimming and adjustment may still be required during installation because of vehicle variations, previous modifications or accessories.

How Does Dynamat Xtreme Work?

Dynamat Xtreme uses a self-adhesive butyl damping layer bonded to an aluminium constraining layer.

When bonded firmly to a body panel, the material controls the movement of the panel and converts vibration energy into a very small amount of heat rather than allowing the panel to continue resonating.

This is why correct adhesion is important.

The supplied Dynamat roller should be used to press the material firmly onto the prepared surface, particularly around contours, edges and changes in panel shape.

Where Should Dynamat Be Installed?

For the best results, Dynamat Xtreme should be bonded directly to a clean, dry and sound vehicle surface.

The interior trim should be removed, and the underlying panels cleaned before installation.

Dynamat can be used throughout suitable interior body areas including floors, doors, roof panels, transmission areas, rear loadspace and wheel arches.

It should be installed so that it does not interfere with moving parts, drainage holes, wiring, fixings or components which require future servicing.

Improved Audio Performance

Reducing panel vibration doesn't only improve refinement.

Doors and body panels can resonate when the vehicle's speakers are playing, particularly at lower frequencies. Treating the surrounding panels with Dynamat helps create a more stable mounting environment for the speakers.

This can help produce:

  • Cleaner bass

  • Reduced panel buzz and rattle

  • Improved definition

  • Less unwanted vibration as volume increases

This makes a full Dynamat installation particularly worthwhile when upgrading the Defender's audio system at the same time.

What's Included?

This complete LR Parts kit contains:

  • DA8092 × 1 – Bonnet sound deadening
  • DA8083 × 1 – Front footwell sound deadening
  • DA8084 × 1 – Seat-box sound deadening
  • DA8085 × 1 – Rear tub behind seats
  • DA8089 × 1 – Rear tub floor
  • DA8088 × 1 – Rear wheel-arch sound deadening
  • DA8090 × 1 – Under-seat sound deadening
  • DA8098 × 1 – Heavy-duty Dynamat installation roller

Plus:

  • DA8098 × 1 – Heavy-Duty Dynamat Installation Roller

Installation Tip

Take your time preparing the vehicle before applying the Dynamat.

Surfaces should be clean, dry and free from loose paint, corrosion, oil, grease and contamination before the self-adhesive material is applied.

Once correctly positioned, use the supplied roller to work firmly across the entire surface of the Dynamat and ensure good adhesion to the panel.

Can I Fit the Kit in Stages?

Yes.

Although this package provides enough Dynamat sections to treat the major areas of the vehicle, there is no requirement to install everything at once.

The vehicle can be tackled area by area – for example the front cabin first, followed by the rear tub, wheel arches, doors or roof as the interior is removed during other work.

This can be particularly convenient during a restoration or interior rebuild.

Does Dynamat Completely Soundproof a Land Rover?

No – and we don't think it is sensible to claim that it does.

A Land Rover has many sources of cabin noise, including the engine, drivetrain, tyres, wind noise, door seals and ventilation openings.

Dynamat Xtreme is primarily designed to control vibration and panel resonance. Treating a large proportion of the vehicle's bodywork can make a substantial difference to refinement, but it will not turn a traditional Land Rover into a silent modern luxury car.

For customers looking for an even more comprehensive approach to noise and thermal insulation, Dynamat Xtreme can also form the vibration-damping base layer beneath additional acoustic or thermal insulation products.

Why Buy the Complete Kit?

This package is intended for owners who know they want to treat the whole vehicle, rather than buying one individual Dynamat section now and subsequently discovering that several more kits are required.

We've combined the appropriate pre-cut Dynamat products into a single LR Parts kit so you can tackle the vehicle comprehensively and order everything under one part number.
