Gas strut conversion kit to fit all rear doors on Defender models 1983-2002 (before they used the one piece doors)
This comes with everything you need to convert from the old check strap bar type to the gas strut type
This neat and easily installed gas strut kit will solve that problem and replaces the original door stopper.
The gas strut will hold the door in place when open - even with a spare wheel in place - and will assist in the opening of the rear door too with a smoother and more controlled movement.
Quality kit manufactured in England. The brackets used are made from heavy duty thick steel that has been zinc plated for longevity
This item does not come with instructions, however it fits like in the photo. You will need remove the original bracket that bolts inside the tub and bolt the new bracket in its place. Then bolt one end of the gas strut to this bracket as shown in the image. Bolt the other end to the larger bracket and open the door to 90 degrees. With the bracket still connected to the gast strut offer it upto the door and then drill holes in the door frame to pop rivet the bracket into place.
