The Wright Off Road acoustic mat system is a heavy-duty moulded sound-deadening system designed specifically for Land Rover Series II, Series IIA and Series III models fitted with four-cylinder engines.
Manufactured from dense cast polyurethane, the system is designed to substantially reduce the amount of engine, gearbox, drivetrain and road noise entering the cabin while also helping to reduce resonance through the Land Rover's metal floor, transmission tunnel and body panels.
Unlike a conventional carpet or lightweight rubber floor mat, the Wright Off Road system forms a substantial secondary floor surface, combining acoustic insulation with a tough, durable and easy-to-clean interior finish.

Please note: This acoustic mat system is designed for four-cylinder Series Land Rovers.
It is not specifically designed for Land Rover Lightweight models. Although the system has been adapted to fit Lightweights, considerable cutting and modification is required and it should not be regarded as a direct-fit application.

Noise is one of the most noticeable characteristics of a traditional Series Land Rover.

The dense polyurethane construction of the Wright Off Road system creates a substantial barrier between these sources of noise and the cabin while also helping to reduce reverberation through the vehicle's metal panels.

How Does the System Reduce Noise?
The effectiveness of the Wright Off Road system comes primarily from the mass of the dense polyurethane acoustic barrier.
The complete system weighs approximately 25kg, spreading a substantial layer of sound-deadening material across the main floor, transmission and seat-box areas rather than relying on a thin layer of conventional insulation.
Closed-cell foam is also incorporated beneath areas such as the footwells and floor panels. This reduces some of the overall weight of the moulding and provides additional comfort underfoot, although the dense polyurethane itself provides the majority of the acoustic barrier.
It is not possible to quote one universal reduction in decibels because every Series Land Rover is different. Engine type and condition, gearbox, overdrive, tyres, existing trim and other modifications can all influence the final result.
What Does the Kit Cover?
The Wright Off Road Series cab system is moulded to cover the principal noise-transmitting areas at the front of the vehicle, including the:

centre bulkhead area
The individual moulded sections follow the shape of the Series Land Rover interior rather than using generic flat sheets of sound-deadening material.
What About the Seat-Box Lids?
The underside of the seat-box mat incorporates witness marks corresponding with the features and access points of the original seat box.
These can be carefully cut to suit the individual vehicle using a suitable heavy-duty knife, allowing access to whichever seat-box lids and openings are required.
Can the Mat System Trap Water?
Any floor covering can trap a small amount of moisture or condensation against the Land Rover's metal floor.
One advantage of the Wright Off Road system is that the polyurethane itself does not absorb or retain water like traditional felt or carpet insulation.
Because the system forms a durable removable secondary surface, the underlying floor can also be appropriately rustproofed or protected against corrosion before installation.
Can I Still Access the Gearbox?
Yes.
The system is designed to remain removable rather than being permanently bonded to the vehicle.
If access to the gearbox or transmission tunnel is required, the relevant sections can be removed and subsequently refitted. Once familiar with the system, removal of the transmission-tunnel section typically takes only a few minutes.
Will DA1744 Fit a Land Rover Lightweight?
The system has been fitted to Land Rover Lightweights, but it was not designed specifically for the Lightweight interior.
Installation requires considerable trimming and adaptation, so DA1744 should not be considered a direct-fit Lightweight mat system.
What If the Mat Arrives Slightly Distorted?
Dense polyurethane mouldings can occasionally become slightly distorted during storage or transportation.
In most cases the material will naturally return towards its original cast shape over time. Gentle warming can help speed up this process.
