The first Land Rover to be built on a simplified unibody platform, the Discovery Sport shares the same basic chassis as the Range Rover Evoque - but more than 90% of its parts are unique, to make sure that the vehicle lives up to the Land Rover pedigree as a capable off-roader. Offered with six-speed manual or nine-speed automatic transmissions, Land Rover set new standards for safety with the Discovery Sport, which became the first car in its class to earn a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating. A new Discovery Sport model was launched in 2020, but the original is still massively popular as a used car.
